Change is Good

Change is good.  Sell the ideas to others in your facility.  We must change.  The “old ways” are no good anymore.

FSMA is change and you must do it.  Recall strategy is changing, for a good reason.  The follow up with suppliers regulation is changing, for a good reason.  Hang a banner:  CHANGE IS GOOD.

If you change with enthusiasm and vigor, others will follow.  Talk it up daily.

Have those on the team submit a change idea.  Then everyone owns a stake.

Humor from ASI

There are a lot of good seminars and webinars out there on Preventive Controls.  Let us know if you are still looking for a class.

Below are a few “one-liners” to get you through the rest of the day:

Venison for dinner again?   Oh deer!

How does Moses make tea?   Hebrews it.
England has no kidney bank, but it does have a Liverpool .
I tried to catch some fog, but I mist.
They told me I had type-A blood, but it was a Typo.

Just Released – Food Defense

FDA has released their final FSMA rule on Food Defense.  You must complete and maintain a written food defense plan in your facility to protect the food you are processing or storing from intentional human contamination.

Read more in the Federal Register or call us.  We can fill you in on what needs to be done.

Imported Ingredients or Food

If you import foods or ingredients, things are a lot different under FSMA.  Under Section 301, your products must be procured from an “approved supplier” that the supplier, through documentation, are controlling “foreseeable hazards”. There must be at least one on site audit of the supplier, etc., etc.

Read Section 301 in the Federal Register.

The New GMP’s Are Coming

Maybe the most significant change to the new GMP’s, that are coming out soon, are the addition of allergen control requirements.  There are 22 proposed revisions under Part 117, Subpart B.  Get to the Federal Register to find these in full.

Also in the new GMP’s , “shall” is replaced with “must”.  This is a big deal.
